Artist's Comments

this piece is dedicated to all the artists in all of us. whatever mediums you may use to bring your visions to life. each and everyone of us parts a bit of our souls in each of our artwork so the next time someone belittles it, it can hurt. be mindful of what you say to others, be helpful as opposed to spiteful or jealous and give the respect you expect others to give to you. one's vision may not be your cup of tea or one may have no comprehension of how long it took the artist to work on a certain piece, it still doesn't give anyone the right to be resentful and hostile towards the person who created it. if you expect respect, then conduct yourself in a respectful way.

that being said, i wish to thank everyone who has parted wisdom and helped me strive harder and learn. i wish to thank each and everyone of the people who kept me on watch, you have all been truly inspirational, each and everyone of you. you may wonder what's gotten into me....don't worry, i will snap back into my perky self in no time. i'm just a bit disheartened, not by something that's happened to me no, but something that's happened to two of my friends whom i hold dear to me. i love and respect them both that it hurts when i hear anyone disrespects them and their work.

Daily DeviationDragon's Peak by *RainfeatherPearl is dark, moody, and dominating, which is fine by me. Great character design, especially love the winged creatures that fly in from ominous looking clouds. (Suggested by `MistressWit and Featured by `Aeires)

:hugs: to your friends and to you.

I agree with what you say here. Constructive criticism is one thing but even that, if worded badly, can be offensive. I'm particularly thinking of the style of comment along the lines of "you should have done this, you should have done that". My response to that would be "and you should f**k off!". Thinking about the wording is important. It's much nicer to receive (and in all likelihood would be better received) if worded "I think an improvement might be..." or "Would this look better" or "Why not try...". Somehting along those lines.

Those that deliberately set out to cause offence and upset should be shot at dawn! Sorry but the whole "bad boy" art critic thing went out in the 60s. It's especially galling to see when it comes from someone with nothing in their gallery. I mean, come on. Nobody would even consider going into their local deli or butcher's shop and berate the proprietor over the way he's cutting the meat!(And not just 'cos he's got a big knife! ). OK not the best example maybe but that's not the point. The point is, as I often tell my kids, if you can't do any better, be quiet and let those who can, do! ;)

Now onto the image... :phew:

Great piece, love the outfit (AS if I'm not mistaken) and that background! :jawdrop: What is that background? It's stunning and used beautifully! The only thing that would make this better for me would be to see more of the front of the character. But that's just me. ;)

Fave time! :+fav:

Thats good. Nice lighting and texturing.
That came out seriously awesome hon! And like I told one of those friends you're down about, fuck the barstids I say! :shakefist:
What a marvelous image, you know I like them dark and somewhat brooding and you do it so beautifully. Don't dispair sweetie, we'll learn to consider the source and let it go...but your sentiments are well spoken and come from your heart and we love you for it. & for my bestest friend.

thanks hon  i've just had it and can't stand seeing it happen twice in such a short period of time. i initially wanted to be as bitter as i felt but i figured if i do then i won't be setting a good example now would i? like i said, most of those who are irresponsibly tactless are kids and i am way older than they are to be acting like one so i said my piece as well as i can muster =)

lol, don't worry hon i speak emoticon ;) yes i agree, some constructive criticism can still fall into the harsh category if not worded right. sometimes, the message you are trying to convey doesn't come across right when you read it in text as opposed to having it spoken to you. which is why one has to be mindful of how they will come across and remain tactful. some just don't care which frustrates me to no end. makes me wonder what kind of parents rear these kids sometimes too, heh.

thanks for the compliments hon...i think i may have saved the pz3 file, i might be able to make another with the full character in it ;). the background is did_mc's wonderful celestial worlds pack. it pretty much set up the mood of this piece. it is beautifully done.

hugs,
Rain
